Product Note
Kutchi wool shawls are cloth that remembers the hand.
Wool woven and shaped through labor becomes surface and shelter in equal measure. In the hands of Kutchi makers, this transformation is neither rushed nor formulaic — it is built through repetitions of gesture and an intimate conversation between fiber and frame.
The weave is an echo of time spent in rhythm: threads crossing and holding one another, creating depth and texture that responds to body and air. Variation in touch, tension, and surface character is not hidden. It is part of the cloth's life — a quiet record of the human hand that drew thread through loom and time through loop.
Drape this shawl where closeness is familiar — around shoulders paused in conversation, over chairs that receive pause, against skin that knows warmth. Over time, it will settle further into presence, carrying the subtle signs of being lived with rather than preserved.
Craft Note
This is cloth meant to accompany, not display. Each shawl is handcrafted. Wool texture, weave density, and surface character will vary slightly. These variations are part of the making tradition.
Care Note
- Handle gently.
- Dry clean or spot clean when needed.
- Avoid prolonged moisture and direct sunlight.
- Natural variation and gradual softening with use are part of the textile's life.
- Avoid washing in water, as it may damage the embroidery and cause the wool to shrink.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to maintain the shawl's vibrant colors and shape.
- Store in a garment bag to protect the delicate embroidery when not in use.

I bought five Kutchi embroidered shawls from House of Saaj to give as Christmas gifts and I must say I was amazed at the quality of the sheep wool. The embroidery was exquisite and I like how the owner, Shilpa was so knowledgeable about the items she has in her shop. The shipping time was great as they arrived well in time. I will definitely be buying from House of Saaj again.
